Rules of Play
World Bowls Rules will apply if not covered below.
- The competition will take the form of a knockout.
- Each game shall be played at a mutually agreed time between the two players. A marker is essential and it is the responsibility of the player at the top of the draw to organise.
- No trial ends.
- Toss up for the mat at the beginning of the match. Home player is the
player at the top of the draw.
Winner is the person with the highest score after 21 ends. In the
event of a tie after 21 ends one more end will be played and
whoever is nearest to the jack wins the match even if the wood is
more than a yard away from the jack.
- Woods over 1 yard from the jack do not score. Woods within 1 yard score and if the person nearest the jack and within 1 yard has
another wood within 1 yard and nearer than their opponents then
that also scores.
- Score cards must be signed and timed by both bowlers and returned immediately to the marker or competition secretary.
- Late arrivals. If the player/players are more than 15 mins late or advises they cannot play, the game will be awarded to their opponent
- No firing.
- If no one scores on an end then the mat belongs to the person who cast the last jack
- If the jack leaves the rink, the end will be declared dead and
replayed
- Postponement due to weather conditions and any subsequent changes to playing times will be the decision of the Competition Secretary or the Captain
